✦ Design Thinking Ideathon: Hacking the Barcode and Exploring New Sounds!​ ✦
 
Have you ever imagined barcode scanners can become musical instruments?In this two-day innovation marathon we will explore new ideas for recycling old electronics. Participants will team up and work towards creating new musical instruments using the barcoders developed by ELECTRONICOS FANTASTICOS! This design challenge will provide a starting point, but participants are free to explore any material, technology and form. The event will be full of creative ideas, interesting discussions and learning experiences. Every team will make a prototype that will demonstrate their concept. It will be the beginning of a new community of music & maker enthusiasts in Hong Kong!

FabCafe is an open space for innovation explorers who want to learn, share and seek collaboration. Founded in Tokyo in 2012, FabCafe’s global network now serves and fosters creative communities in 12 locations around the world, including Bangkok, Barcelona, Taipei, and many more.
ELECTRONICOS FANTASTICOS! is a creative community from Japan. They hack home electrical appliances and make instruments to play at live concerts. Since the project launched in 2015 they have assembled project teams in Tokyo, Hitachi and Kyoto, and developed numerous instruments such as the CRT-TV Drum, Electric Fan Harp and Barcodic Guitar.
